Question…?

I was thinking about knitting the Mosey legwarmers from the Spring 2008 issue of Knitty. My only problem is, the smallest size shown is for a 16-inch calf circumference. My calf is only 12.5 inches around. My question: How would I adjust this pattern to make it fit me? And, do I still have to make sure that my gauge matches the one given (by the way, how do I do that)?

Thanks so much!!

  1. Those are seriously cute. First off I see that they look like they have ties to adjust them, second I would check your gage.

converting patterns is all about gage. If you make gage on a us 7 needle then maybe try going down to a us 6 for a slightly smaller fit. :)

I would research the ties though. that might solve your problem with out any modifications.

Also search them on ravelry :) Maybe someone has already modified them for you! :D

  2. I agree with Preita. Sometimes changing needle sizes is all you need to do. Or switching yarn weight.

  3. I third the suggestion to change needle sizes. But to loose 3.5 inches, I’d drop at least two needle sizes.

Remember that the cables and ribbing will be stretchy, and that they should fit loosely, not snuggly like socks, especially if you wear them over pants or jeans

With all the cables, adjusting the pattern will be a challenge.

I’d leave the back panel alone, and make the adjustments on the front — make the six-stitch cables four stitches, for example.

    They are seriously cute.
